“The spirit voice, of goodness whispers to our hearts, a better choice, than evil’s anguished cries. Loud may the sound of hope ring till all doubt departs. And we are bound to Him by loving ties.”
Yesterday, I was driving over to a friend’s 10-year wedding anniversary celebration, when I got a surprise phone call from Crawford Gates, the man who wrote “Our Savior’s Love.” He also played the organ for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! He is now 94 years old. It was the sweetest thing in the world to hear his voice, and get to talk to this church music legend who inspired me with his hymn. It was particularly special because it was Valentines-day eve. I typically dread Valentines Day because at 34 years old, year after year I realize that I’m still single… and still waiting for “the one” to come into my life. (Yeah where is he……seriously?!) 😉 But this year it was almost as if getting this phone call was a reminder to me that my Savior knows and loves me. He is very aware of my struggles, of my hopes, and my dreams. I am thankful to have had this experience, that I will remember for the rest of my life! I even get to go meet Crawford Gates when I’m back visiting Utah this summer, I can’t wait! HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! I know the Savior loves each one of us. I hope you’ll get a chance to listen to my arrangement of Crawford Gates’ “Our Savior’s Love” with K. Newell Dayley’s, “I Feel My Savior’s Love.” Two of the most wonderful hymns ever written!
